A QR or quick response code, is a faster way of connecting people through information and tags. They can be found on posters, bus stops, adverts, tube and train stations, etc. It was originally designed in Japan for the automotive industry. Creators then adopted the barcodes because of their large storage capacity and ability to translate additional information to consumers beyond what creative and/or packaging could convey.
So if a consumer sees a QR code somewhere, they can take out their mobile device, open up a QR code scanner, and “scan” the barcode to gain access to additional information, hence why in the Creative CV project I would like to connect my business card and physical product, into a digital product through the use of a QR code and a photographer. Therefore creating not only a physical product the client can interact with, but they can then spread that through the QR code, social media etc.
To obtain the QR code, there are several websites that provide these. You can choose between a Static or Dynamic code. The dynamic allows you to change the information like the URL code provided without having to alter or get a new code. Static is as it seems, not a lot you can change on the code.
Have chosen to use GOQR.me. It gives you the option of creating a URL/Contact/Coupon. The URL would be a website link. The contact would be a personal one for yourself or your intended client and the third would be towards a coupon or offers.
The dos of QR coding and getting the most out of it. Place the QR codes in places where scanning is easy, and there’s enough time for the consumer to actually scan the code. Think of place that have access to the internet or wi-fi. Do mobile-optimize the page to which you’re sending people. Consumers will be on their phone when scanning the QR code, so they should be brought to a page with a positive mobile experience. Want to make it as easy for them to see read and get involved with. Not everyone knows exactly what a QR code is, and those that do won’t be motivated to scan it unless they’re sure there’s something worthwhile on the other side.
The QR code downloaded now has been tested and works. It will bring you to www.getmessygetinvolved.wordpress.com . There will be a 3D image of the creative cv or festival in a box and the observer can then move it around etc.
